New Hire Bonus for Qualifying Institutions:
New Hires who apply and are hired to work at a Correctional Institution with a 10% or more staff vacancy rate are eligible for an additional $1000 hiring bonus:
- No experience is necessary to apply, and all training is provided.
- During training and academy, non-certified officers receive a competitive starting salary and premier benefits, including health insurance, on day one of their new career.

Education
Hiring Bonus for Education Positions:
Teacher Aides, Vocational Teachers, Academic Teachers and Special Education Teachers may be eligible for a $1000 hiring bonus. The education bonus will be awarded to new hires who meet the following qualifications:
- If the position requires a teaching certification, a temporary teaching certification must be obtained prior to receiving the bonus. If the position does not require a teaching certification or the candidate is already certified, the employee is eligible for the bonus upon hire.
- Current and former employees in one of the identified education positions who had a break in service with the Department of 31 days or less, or who previously received the bonus are not eligible for this bonus.

Referral Bonus
FDC is now offering a $1000 referral bonus to FDC employees who refer a viable candidate to join our corrections team as a Correctional Officer, Correctional Probation Officer or Inspector! To qualify for the full bonus, the candidate must have or earn their Criminal Justice Standards & Training Commission (CJSTC) certification, be hired by FDC and maintain their position with the department for one year. The more you refer, the more you can earn!
When you refer a new trainee
- The FDC employee will receive $500 upon the referred candidate’s certification by the CJSTC as an officer; and
- $500 following the referred candidate’s successful completion of one year as a certified officer.
When you refer a CJSTC certified officer
- The FDC employee will be eligible for a $500 bonus 30 days after the referred candidate’s hire date and $500 following the candidate’s first anniversary date of hire with the agency.
- Only one FDC employee is eligible for the bonus per referred and retained candidate. All referred candidates must have been hired on or after August 1, 2021 and include the FDC employee who referred them on their application. Recruiters, Human Resource staff and other hiring authorities are not eligible for the referral bonus.
- Only current FDC employees are eligible to receive the referral bonus. Contact your local Human Resource representative for more information.
