Department of Corrections employees are eligible for straight term life insurance, with an accidental death and dismemberment benefit, underwritten by Prudential Insurance Company.
This insurance is available to full-time and part-time employees. The coverage for full-time career service employees is 1.5 times the employee's annual salary and the employee is responsible for paying 20% of the premium.
For Selected Exempt Service and Senior Management Service employees, coverage is double the employee's annual salary and the State of Florida pays the full premium as an additional employee benefit.
Employees may also purchase additional term life insurance from one to five times the amount of annual salary, up to a maximum of $500,000.00. Enrollees will be paid a benefit for injuries and death claims will be awarded to the beneficiary on record.
